Ovadia (Abdulla) Alkara, Painter. b. 1939, in Druse village of Daliat-el-Carmel, Israel. Studies: 1961 Beaux Arts Academy, Paris. Prizes: 1983 Purchase Prize at the Israeli Graphic Triennial, Haifa Art Museum; 1994 Ministry of Science and Arts Prize for Plastic Arts; 1996 The Ministry of Education and Culture Prize. Works in Public Places: Library of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, etc.; 1983 work acquired at Graphic Triennale, Haifa. 1961 Alkara served in Israel Defence Forces. From 1965 divides his time between his workshop in New York and his home in Ein Hod. His works show two artistic cultures - the traditional illustrative inheritance of the East and West.
