Nahum (Nachum) Gilboa
Nahum Gilboa, an Israeli artist, who was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1917, has been called by art critics the "Israeli Breughel", not only because of his realistic, romantic style, but also owing to the rich colorfulness of his paintings, his attention to details, and the breadth of his canvas. Gilboa is an artist with modest and honest roots who works like the "Maestroes" and scrutinizes with realistic precision. And while perceiving the details, you will recognize his symbols, just as the figures of a poet lay bare his rich inner world.
The painter calls his work: Romantic Realism, and indeed, he is a poet expressing very fine romanticism from within. Perhaps all this seems romantic, but it becomes clear to the onlooker that there is no sham here, the voices ring true and speak to the heart. This is Gilboa's strongest point in his paintings.
