Kryzhitsky studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts from 1877-85 and was an active working artist in St. Petersburg. He was a founding member of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists and a founding member of the Kuindzhi Society and it’s Chairman from 1909 until his death. He exhibited with the Wanderers from 1891-1901 (exhibitions #19, 20 and 29). He became an Academician in 1889 and was an active member of the Academy of Arts
