Israeli painter, born in Jerusalem in 1925. He served with the British Army in World War II and later was a member of the Haganah. For more then ten years he served as a Regiment Commander in the Reserves. He studied architecture at the Haifa Technion. He was in charge of City Planning for the Ministry of Intierior.
Gabriel Ben-or started painting in 1962. Since 1969 he has been a member of the Artists' House in Jerusalem and has participated in all its general exhibitions. In 1970 he held a one-man show at the Artists' House. He was awarded the Atists' House Prize for 1971 for his painting "Eilat" which was at the Autumn Exhibition of the year. He changed his technique from impressionist figurative to an abstract technique, employing thick layers of oil paint.
