Hagai has also had extensive training in the Philosophy of Art, studying both under Elad Kopler and Nyr Hod.
Exhibitions include a joint exhibition at the GivatayimMuseum in 2006, a joint exhibition at the JaffaMuseum also in 2006, and a joint exhibition at the RehovotMuseum in 2007.
Hagai's style has evolved from a period from 1976 to1985 where he painted female nudes juxtaposed with abstract forms, to a return, from 1986 to 1985, to concrete/figurative forms combining huge female nude figures. He was also influenced, at this point, by his Kabbalah studies, and started depicting religious scenes and decorative imagery. From 2000 to today Hagai has been painting total abstraction in vivid, almost Fauvistic, colors. He uses a radiant palette of bright reds, oranges and turquoise.Hagai's paintings boast distinguished Rothko-esque shapes, sometimes divided by determined lines.
